Systems of Equations

Note: we skipped Unit 5 for now.

4th Unit

Linear Functions

Graphing Standard Form of a Line (ax + by = c)

1. To find the y-intercept, plug 0 in for y and solve for x.  Plot (0, y).

2. To find the x-intercept, plug 0 in for y and solve for y.  Plot (x0).

3. Draw the line that passes through both of these points.  Be sure to extend it and draw your arrows.

Graphing Slope-Intercept Form of a Line (y = mx + b)

m = Slope

b = y-intercept (beginning pt)

1. Plot the y-intercept.

2. Plot your slope repeatedly (rise over run).

3. Draw the line that passes through both of these points.  Be sure to extend it and draw your arrows.

Arithmetic Sequence Notes

An arithmetic sequence is a sequence where the same number is being added repeatedly.

Geometric Sequence Notes

A geometric sequence is a sequence where the same number is being multiplied repeatedly.

Video Explanation

The 1st video shows you how to find the Explicit Rule for an arithmetic sequence when you start off with the 1st term.

The 2nd video shows you how to find the Explicit Rule using the 1st term, and the 0th term...both.  It's dry, boring, and unexciting.  But it's an effective video (if you can watch the entire thing).
